There's an annual poetry contest of sorts with my local poetry group.
Each year a different American poet is chosen as the focus.
First, a reading of Charles Bukowski's poetry.
Second, open mic.
Third, two round "open mic" contest reading poems inspired by or in keeping with Charles Bukowski's poetry and themes therein.
Been researching the man online and while his poetry is good, I'm not sure I actually like the guy.
Hoping that doesn't count badly towards me at the contest.
